【Event Recap】The Greater Bay Area Artificial Intelligence Technology Innovation Competition 2022-23

The Greater Bay Area Artificial Intelligence Technology Innovation Competition 2022-23 was successfully held on July 27-28, 2023. We would like to thank our co-organiser, SenseTime Technology and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Youth AI Development Centre, for offering their venue at HKSTP for the competition.

The competition aims to encourage students to pay more attention to solving real-life problems. The participating teams are required to create A.I. projects centered around the theme of Smart Living. In addition to creating the project prototype using SenseStorm A.I. robot kits, students also need to present their projects through powerpoint/videos and respond to questions from judges in the Q&A session.

SenseStorm 3 robot introduction
The SenseStorm 3 robot is composed of a smart hub and various hardware components. Students can connect different hardware components, such as touch sensors, photoelectric sensors, colored lights, and motors of different sizes, to the smart hub to complete the tasks. With the programming platform and AI functions, the robot can perform functions such as face detection, gesture recognition, image classification, and speech recognition through machine learning.

Before creating the robot, participants need to pay attention to their surroundings to identify real-life problems, conduct research, in order to conceive solutions based on innovation and technology.

Students and teachers were checking the presentation materials, including the demonstration robot, to ensure that the ideas can be presented smoothly and completely to the judges.

During the presentation, the robot was used to demonstrate its functions and movements, and the powerpoint/video was used to vividly express the solutions that students had developed to achieve Smart living.
