FIRST® LEGO® League Discover 2023-24: Celebrates Children's STEAM Achievements with Imagination

The FIRST® LEGO® League Discover season 2023-24 came to a jubilant close on Saturday, 13th July, amidst laughter and cheers as over 250 teachers, parents and students gathered to celebrate the remarkable STEAM learning journey of young minds. The event was hosted generously by Ho Ming Primary School (sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen), transformed into a vibrant celebration of innovation and progress.

The ceremony shone brighter with the presence of esteemed guests, including Mr Ming Kwok, CEO of Trumptech, Ms. Tam Fung Ting, Principal of Ho Ming Primary School, Ms. Lam Chui Ling, MH, JP , Member of District Council, Prof. Suzannie Leung, Assistant Professor of Department of Curriculum & Instruction, CUHK and Dr. Law Kit Ying , Assistant Head(Field Experience) / Senior Lecturer II of Department of Early Childhood Education.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Dr. Law and Dr. Leung, who, beyond their roles as honored guests, lent their expertise to evaluating the teams across five categories: Cooperative Builders Award, Super Problem-Solvers Award, Expert Explainers Award, Creative Designers Award, and Amazing Inventors Award. Their thoughtful comments and encouragement inspired young innovators, nurturing their creativity and fostering a love for STEAM.

Tiny Creators, Boundless Imagination

FIRST® LEGO® League Discover, tailored for kindergarteners aged 4-6, embraced the principle of 'Playful Learning' to introduce children to the wonders of STEAM. By engaging in thematic research, hands-on projects, and presentations, participants immersed themselves in a world of discovery, challenges, and joy. This year's competition saw over 36 enthusiastic teams showcasing their passions and talents, creating unique team models, engineering notebooks, and presentation videos that reflected their boundless imagination and creativity.

A Carnival of Celebration

Post-ceremony, the atmosphere shifted to one of pure joy as the FIRST® LEGO® League Discover transformed into a STEAM carnival. Children indulged in various booth games, celebrating their achievements and enjoying the company of like-minded peers.

Looking Ahead with Hope

FIRST® LEGO® League Discover has not only provided a platform for children to showcase their talents but also ignited their curiosity and motivation for STEAM learning, laying a solid foundation for future intellectual endeavors.
